Green Squares… FINALLY FINISHED!!!

•August 28, 2011 • 2 Comments

Life can be pretty crazy can’t it… I’m not even sure how to describe how this year has been so far, I went to England earlier this year and had an amazing time, fell in love, started university, continued with my voluntary work. Then things kind of fell apart, my grandpa died, was nearly evicted (long story but not my fault) and went through a horrible break up.

Anyway I finally finished my Green Squares painting and have been meaning to share the this with you all.

I hope you like the final work.

Thanks for looking :)

Inception

•November 17, 2010 • 18 Comments

Hey everybody,

I’ve been super busy lately. I’ve finally got the university application process over and done with, now I have to wait till January to see if I get in. I have been continuing with my voluntary work and have applied to be part of a national youth representative group. I’ve also started going to craft markets with my cousin, we’ve had the worst luck lately with the weather but hopefully that’ll start to change soon. I can’t wait to put my art out there and see how it goes.

Also big news……. I’M GOING TO ENGLAND :D I’m going in February for a month and I’m super excited. I booked and paid for my flights last week, now I just need to be patient.

Anyway here is my painting I did for the art show back in October, I’m really happy with how it turned out.

I have a set of 3 paintings which I have just finished too, I’ll try to take some photos soon. I’m planning on taking them with me to the craft markets.

Thanks for looking :)

Cycling World Championships: Men’s Road Race

•October 5, 2010 • 2 Comments

Ok so the last week Geelong (where I live) has been inundated with international cyclists for the UCI world championships. Sunday was the Men’s road race and I managed to drag myself out of bed to go watch the majority of the race. The day was perfect, sunny and beautiful. Cycling isn’t a huge sport here in Australia so it’s been a great experience having the international event hosted by my city.

Though I did get a little sunburnt, I spent the whole day sitting in the shade by the road (there were 11 laps of the Geelong ciruit) but once the peloton passed for the final time I sat and watched the end of the race on a big screen in the Aussie hub. Unfortunately for me that was in direct sunlight and I burn very easily.

Here are the cyclists going by

This is me prior to the sunburn waiting by the side of the road, in yellow and green for the Aussies.

And here is a video of the cyclists going by

I had a great day, was really exciting having such a huge event in Geelong, seeing the bay on TV it looked stunning and hopefully this will encourage  more tourists to visit the region.

Green squares: progress

•October 2, 2010 • 4 Comments

Hey here is my green painting in progress, I’ve already started painting the pattern so I’ll try to take a photo of that soon. I’ve been really busy with applying to university and finding a new committee I’m part of to be quite time and energy consuming.

Not to mention at the moment Geelong is hosting the Cycling world championships. In town it’s completely chaotic but I’m really loving the atmosphere. I’ll be making my way down to the Aussie spectators hub tomorrow for the men’s race, in my yellow and green. The weather has been lovely too, tomorrow is supposed to be around 23°c so the weather gods have really blessed us.

Anyway here is the green painting in progress, I finally got it to a point where I like it. Took forever to get there, changing colours many of times.

Thanks for looking :)

Blue Squares

•September 11, 2010 • 10 Comments

Hey I have finally completed the blue squares painting. I finished it a week or so ago but I have been busy, the unit I’m renting is up for sale so I’ve had heaps of  people coming through.

I hope you like the final product, this is definitely one of my favourite paintings so far. I’m really loving painting on canvas, the green painting in the same style is finally coming along well, I’ll post a photo soon. I’m also working on another painting for an art show in October and I’ll post a photo of that soon too.

Anyway here is the finished product

Thanks for looking. Tomorrow I’ll try to do Kseverny’s Lion Art Challenge.

Blue and gold painting update

•July 24, 2010 • 10 Comments

I haven’t done a lot of the pattern but it’s a start. It’s been so cold here lately and I’ve been sick so I haven’t felt like getting out of bed. I’ll stop being so stubborn and I’ll get out my heater tonight so I can do a little more.

I’m really loving the way its coming along, though the green piece to go with this is causing me a heap of trouble lol

I’ve also been invited to submit some paintings into two different art shows, I would really like to participate but I’m a little scared, I’ve never entered an art show before. I’m going to try to make myself ring up and enquire about them on monday. I’m still not sure how to even price my work, I think if I decide to participate in these shows I’ll price them reasonably cheap. I see these art shows as a way to get my name out in the public rather than making money.

Anyway I hope you’re liking the progress so far, thanks for looking :)

Ongoing painting

•July 13, 2010 • 8 Comments

Hey everybody, this is the progress of one of my paintings for a counselling room, I’m really loving it so far. I’m too scared to paint over it lol. Unfortunately the other is causing me a whole heap of stress, colours aren’t turning out right and struggling to find the right combination that’ll complement this piece. Anyway here it its, again another piece with gold. This is a Matisse gold paint (flow) and it has a wonderful shine to it in person, also the texture is nice and creamy, not too think but has a little body.

Thanks :)
